There are several neighbourhoods in Versailles where smaller, residential streets still have gravel roads, which never fails to amaze me, though I like it as it gives the city an unusual country air and charm! I have no idea how two cars are supposed to pass each other though, it's probably a question of centimetres!

Fascinating that you'd find gravel roads in these times. There are such interesting details in the buildings. In the states, we'd call this an alley and I love walking down them, taking in all the sights.
ReplyDeleteThe spots of green also give the lane a country feel. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteEffectivement on semble etre loin de Paris ou Versailles. Un petit coin de campagne...
ReplyDeleteJ'aime bien la photo du lac en dessous.
Oh, my. The only gravel roads I ever drive on are out near my wife's family farm in Kansas. I couldn't imagine this in the US.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you are right, the statue of Meriwether Lewis does look somewhat like Prince Charles. I personally think there is a strong resemblance to George Bush the younger.
We have alot of gravel roads too. It does make the neighborhood look more charming.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about that photo that makes it so charming. We might call this an "alley" in the States which doesn't sound nearly as romantic.
ReplyDeleteIt does have a country air about it. Alleys are in older residental areas here, but newer ones are built with yards back to back.
ReplyDeletePS - I couldn't possibly do a puddle series, it would be very short lived since it hardly rains here! :)
Gravel roads do amaze me in such a cosmopolitan city. It does not look like there is room for another car to pass on that street.
ReplyDeletemy perception of France is very modern. you show a different concept.
ReplyDeleteCharming little road with a country air. Looks nice. MB
ReplyDeleteDo the few cars driving by make that gravel noise? :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's always a nice things to find these kind of alleys in a neighborhood.
ReplyDeletetres sympa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dear neighborhood this is. I hope the people living here never take it for granted.
ReplyDeleteHere in tiny Lux it seems that even the smallest path in the middle of the woods is paved... :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
I really like the sound of a car driving on a gravel lane... Charming place, Ciel...
ReplyDeleteI love very much also see the less known places of a city, compliments
ReplyDeleteI like all that green :D
ReplyDeleteCharming photo. There are still streets like these, mostly off the beaten path side roads where I live. I hope they always remain unpaved..
ReplyDeleteBeaucoup de charmes ces ruelle; évident avec un camion si prendre à plusieurs reprise.
ReplyDeleteJoli coin de campagne. J'espère bien que la ruelle soit à sens unique :-)
ReplyDeleteThe houses are right on the road! No yard to speak of. Many of the houses in town here are like that.
