What makes cemeteries nice around All Saints, is the bloom of chrysanthemums, which is the traditional flower at this time of the year. The undertakers have them all ready for sale at the entrance of the cemetery. -------------------------------------

Interesting. We have two baskets of yellow ones (look identical to what I see here) on our back deck. They do add so much color!

I'm never sure I really like Chrysanthemums - they always seem such a decided kind of flower. No subtlety! They make a lovely splash of colour in the cemetery though.
Mums must be the Fall flower everywhere. They sure color up a gray and drab cemetary. MB
I have always found weird the Italian Pompe Funebri, but I can see that it's practically the same in French. I like to see so much color on those grey stones, but may be it's only for the holiday...

Your post reminds me that it is important to remember the lives of those who passed before us. Both my parents are dead and all but one from their generation. I miss them as I see your post.
@ VP, I agree, the pompes or pompi is weird.
Definitely a spash of fall in those flowers. I find it odd that a funeral parlor would be right by a cemetary and provide flowers for one to buy BUT I suppose it makes it handy. I like the colors when it is fall but I am not fond of the plant actually.
I am more intrigued by the stepping stones between the graves. We jsut have grass here.
BTW, the day I visited the cemetary, I was taking photos of benches and posted them all on my blog in one day because they were all different but the same because they came from the historiacal cemetary in our town so I really have no grave photos except the stone that had a stone bench on the side of the marker as a part of it and words to rest awhile there. If you really want to see them, I could locate the post for you. Let me know.
You have some beautiful colors and peaceful scenes in these posts of cemeteries and flowers. I've had a busy week and now I'm in Southern California for a few days, but I'm reading and commenting as I can. This was a nice visit!
@ Halcyon: a lot of people dislike these flowers for the same reasons as you. I actually like them for the splash of colour they provide in the dreary season.
