I read it years ago but my husband just finished reading, "While Paris Burned,"--it was a terrible time needing big, confident leaders who took charge.
I've read a couple of books lately about the second World War and its interesting that at that time there was in some areas of France scepticism about his role. But his leadership of the Free French Forces and of the country following the end of the war cannot be disputed. An inspirational leader.

That is a good likeness. He was a physically big man.
He was a big man in many ways. It's a nice sculpture. Is he one of your heroes?
That's a great looking statue, I like the setting...

Nice! I like that lamp hanging on the wall between the windows too.
When I was growing up de Gaulle was the personification of France, and he didn't seem to care for us very much.

je me souviens que celle des Champs Elysée a été fondue à la fondation Coubertin de Saint Rémy les Chevreuse peut-être que celle ci aussi ?
A controversial character, for sure.
This is a fine sculpture Ciel in a good location!
Wow! He had muscular thighs.
Nice artistic work put in to the statue of this tall and famous man.
I do remember him as the leader of France when I was young. It's a very commanding statue.
Much better than the one in Paris...
I didn't realize he was so tall...at least he appears to be in this photo.
Quite an impressive sculpture of the man.
