Sorry, this is just going to be one of these long, long posts... Bastille Day fireworks in front of the palace -traditionally held on 13 July- and no amount of photos can render the beauty, especially not VDP's because they aren't very good! Water plays were added this year, visible around the equestrian statue of Louis XIV in some photos! Of course, VDP's mate's photos are sooooo much better, click here to see them! Better still, take a seat and watch his video!
Désolée, ça va être un long billet... Le feu d'artifice du 14 juillet, traditionnellement tiré le 13, fut cette année une très grande cuvée avec l'ajout de jeux d'eau, visibles sur certaines photos autour de la statue équestre de Louis XIV. Les photos ne lui rendent pas bien justice, pour en voir de magnifiques, cliquez ici. Elles ont été faites par le pote de VDP. Mieux encore, (re)vivez le feu en vidéo, c'est par là !
The fireworks were preceded by a concert on Notre-Dame market place with cover versions of great hits from the sixties to today, by a band called 'The Loops'.
Le feu d'artifice fut précédé d'un concert du groupe "The Loops" place du marché Notre-Dame, des versions "cover" de tubes des années soixante à nos jours !
And finally (told you this would be extra long), VDP spent a wonderful afternoon and evening yesterday with another VDP! Vreni from Vienna is visiting Paris at the moment and came to Versailles, danke nochmals Vreni! Check out her Vienna Daily Photo here!

I love all these photos! I thought of you watching fireworks yesterday afternoon. Sitting at my desk at work, I watched the fireworks over the Eiffel Tower viewing a webcam. 2:00 PM my time, 10:00 PM your time. That was quite a show. I would have loved to have seen it in person without all the pixilation but it was fun to watch anyway. It must have been quite spectacular over the palace.
