The army. They are everywhere these days in larger French cities. Well, they were already present before the tragic events of 7-9 January 2015 albeit more discreetly: security has been reinforced everywhere, in front of a great many public buildings as well as Jewish schools and synagogues. Beautiful Versailles synagogue, which VDP had shown you here and here, is no exception. It is guarded 24/7 and it is now forbidden to park anywhere near it. Shame is the word that comes to mind... Below, a shot of the building from a distance, seen from nearby Saint Joan of Arc church. After the terrorist attack in Tunis this last week, security will no doubt be heightened again...
L'armée. Elle est visible partout dans les grandes villes. Elle l'était déjà avant mais tellement plus depuis les événements tragiques de janvier. La belle synagogue de Versailles, que VDP vous montrait ici et là, ne fait pas exception à la règle, il est également interdit de se garer à proximité. Honte est le terme qui vient à l'esprit de VDP... Ci-dessous, la synagogue vue depuis l'église Sainte Jeanne d'Arc.

Very,very sad reflection on life today
Mmm. Saw a lot of this in Israel a couple of weeks ago as well.
Very troublesome to think that anti-Semitism is on the rise. The fact that soldiers have to patrol the streets in any country, city is very disturbing.
Yes it is a shame. hopefully the military presence will be a deterrent.
Shame is the word to use in this situation.

It's almost heartbreaking. We don't see the military so much in this roll but there are places where there are an awful lot of police.

Sad to say... same all over. It's the way of this world today.
The synagogue stands out beautifully. I have noticed a heightened police presence since the events here last October as well.
So sad to see this kind of thing. I was in London the year after the American Embassy bombing and I remember having tears in my eyes when I saw the need to to have fencing all the way around the embassy building. So sad.
Sooner or later someone will find the courage to send a few planes to seriously end this scourge...
