Isn't this sweet? It's a detail of Ceres Fountain which was laid out between 1672 and 1679 by Thomas Regnaudin,
after a drawing by Charles Le Brun. Ceres, the Roman goddess of harvests
and corn, is seated on a bed of corn stalks, accompanied by cornflowers
and roses. It symbolises summer (text of the palace's website).

Oh, that is so beautiful and so sweet indeed!! I love it!! And the detail you've captured is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing, Ciel!! Hope your week is going well!
Yes it is! Have I mentioned that I will be visiting the palace this summer with my daughter? I'm really looking forward to it!
Beautiful detail, and taking it out to larger scale works well!
I first knew her as Demeter, reading books of Greek mythology as a child.
Sweet and delicate.
I like the vignetting you did on the second of today's photos and on yesterday's photos.
Not my style but and interesting fountain.
Nit pick: I think that corn was introduced to Europe from North America after Columbus' first or second voyage. It was well established by the time Versailles was built. Wheat had its origins in Mesopotamia and Ceres (and earlier Demeter) helped it grow.
But these are wonderful pictures. I love the little corn kernel toes.
Adorable little cherubs.
To answer your question on my site, no the jacaranda blooms don't have any scent. They look like they should but, they don't.
Your close up is perfect !
You have captured it perfectly!
de belles joues :-)
Nice . . . uhm . . . buds. ;-)
It's hard to imagine that level of detail on a fountain. I was thinking Fall as you described it, but Summer makes sense too.
Summer so soon? I'm still waiting for spring. ;))
very sweet indeed!
Sweet little cherub derriere, makes me think of my new little granddaughter :)
You know I like details, and this one is amazing!
Awesome shots of this beautiful fountain! Love the top composition.
