On show at Madame Elisabeth's domain, muslin dresses that would have been worn by her in the country style (at the time, Montreuil neighbourhood was outside of Versailles!) as well as a fan and some gorgeous furniture and curtains!

Beautiful!! Great captures as always, Ciel! Hope you have a great week!
I cannot help but think how uncomfortable all these clothes must have been. But maybe knowing you were dressed in high style made up for the discomfort...and if you knew nothing else...
Dressing up for me these days means wearing a shirt with a collar that matches my shorts. If I really dress up, I put on socks. :)
Would they have had an electric fan back in those days?
<3
I like that room in the second photo.
They must have need very careful washing and ironing, but then they had servants for that.
All very elegant!
Simple yet elegant. I guess this style wouldn't be too bad in the Summer heat.
Uncomfortable for sure in all this heat here. Whew!
Tres sympa ! J'aime toujours voir les vetements d'autrefois. Mais je suis contente que nous (les femmes) d'aujourd'hui ont plus de choix ! :)
wouldn't it have been fun to dress up like that?!
Part of me thinks it would be wonderful to wear the dresses of those times then again when the weather is in the high 30's perhaps it's more comfortable fantasising about it.. A fan Ciel :)))))
Dresses goes out of fashion quickly than furniture. On can imagine to sit in a formal room like this one even today, but it is hard to imagine a lady wearing those dresses...
The dresses are lovely but where are the Levis. haha!!

Delicates et elegantes!
Pretty dresses although I would not like to wear them when it gets hot.
There must have been lots of work put in to making these elegant dresses!
Amazingly, these look like they'd be nice to wear - no (obvious) corset or too too many layers. Though I agree summer might not be the best time, imagine how lovely they'd be in cooler weather though!
