Love the angle of this photo and that gorgeous over hang and the number 1. What I am very curious about is that ribbon or shadow across the lower half of the doorway.
You do know then that St Martin of Tours is a patron saint of France.
I think that's a very useful design - the overhang protects people from the elements but the translucent material keeps light on the door. I've seen this in England as well as France but never here.
Well, first of all I missed seeing Jack's comments. The doorway is really very French and exquisite in details and ornamentation. I like the two lamps or candles on each side of the door. How far from the train station is it? Lucky you to be able to find so many subjects to photograph. I also like to read all the comments but Google has made it so that I cannot post at some sites for some reason.
This number 1 door is magnificent and full of beautiful details.I've enlarged the picture and I think there are two little sculptures by the side of the door, it's different indeed.I imagine there is a meaning behind, for protection or something like that.A fabulous door and your picture is great! *** Berlin is wonderful any time any weather!!!! bises Léia
I was often reminded of Versailles when in Bucharest. Plenty of ornate doors with overhangs and windows embellished with sculpture like on your previous post. It's bit grubbier in Bucharest, but I think you'd feel at home... :-)

belle verrière, une architecture que j'aime bien
Another beautiful doorway. I especially like the overhang.
The overhang seems kind of overlarge to me. Like a kid wearing his dad's ball cap. Nice catch, Ciel.

Real beauty in this construction...and the frosted glass cover is its shining glory!
Its always good to be #1. The overhang is curiously attractive.
designed to let in the maximum amount of light.

I love the overhang. It's beautiful and functional at the same time.

Fancy overhang! I don't know if I've seen a clear one like this before.
I like the angle too. Interesting cover over the doorway.
L'un numéroter bien est très présenté Ciel ! (haha! pardon my French!)

Practical and even nice, the side lights are funny!
Tres pratique quand il pleut et que l'on a du mal a trouver le trou de serrure...
Lovely door with so many beautiful details!
Really nice photo. I like the door and the roof that is transparent.

This is wonderful. The door itself is lovely, of course, and the perspective you used is perfect for it. Nice!
... a doorway to someone's heaven.
@ all: re the overhang: these were quite common, I wouldn't want to have to clean it though. Pigeons do tend to make a mess...
another great doorway. i like that it is a transparent cover over the doorway
C'est tout coquet et à la fois ceka fait très industriel et adapté à un environnement de gare
Love this doorway! And a lovely roof, too :D
It's a fantastic doorway. Beautiful!
