Aren't they gorgeous? In full bloom at the Scents Courtyard on Saturday!
Suddenly a group of American tourists walked by. VDP was astonished (and really pleasantly surprised) that they were obviously taking a guided tour of the city considering that most tourists, wherever they come from, walk from the train station to Starbucks, to the palace, to McDonald's and back to the train station, having thus sampled some French gastronomy! Yes, that is an ever so slightly ironic statement. Unfortunately, the information they were given here was incorrect, the scents courtyard wasn't built this year but in 2013!
And... Saturday evening, VDP had the huge pleasure of meeting Walla Walla Daily Photo! It was a fantastic evening of chatting over dinner that ended under the Eiffel Tower! It was absolutely great to see you!
Very, very lovely, I'm delighted to have such beautiful cousins :)
ReplyDeleteNever much fun with guides that make mistakes, but I guess we have all done that.
ReplyDeleteThe blooms are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a scents courtyard!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteAny American who thinks that a stop at the Versailles McDonalds is a taste of French gastronomy is, well, too dumb to be admitted to your country.
ReplyDeleteIris! One of my favorites! And you caught them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to meet a fellow blogger.
Oh my gosh, gorgeous iris! And, another meet up with a city daily photo blogger! How fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your little tourist description. I've seen it happen!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms and colours... and food, and wine!
ReplyDeleteIrisis are on my top-ten list.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place!
@ Bob: it isn't just Americans! It's all of them (well make that about 90% of them!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous courtyard. I'm sure I've never seen so many irises in one place!
ReplyDeleteI can only remember going to McD ONCE on my travels: after a couple of weeks in India I really needed to make a break on hot spicy food! And that was it. :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome blooms btw!
Beautiful photos and I'm glad that you were able to meet up with another CDP blogger!
ReplyDeleteI'm still getting over the shock that there even IS a McDonald's in Versailles Ciel, quel horreur! Meanwhile the iris are divine.
ReplyDeleteThese are great iris photos. The scent garden not only smells great, it looks good too.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how you put up with tourists and their odd behavior. Just remember, there are good people everywhere.
Beautiful flowers, Ciel, and such a treat for you two to have met!
ReplyDeleteTour guides are always interesting to listen and groups of tourists are often funny to watch...
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a lot of fun to meet my first CDP blogger. Who might be next? Je ne sais pas.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises and so nice to see they are still in bloom. Mine gave up weeks ago :(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and these photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteAstonishing light. Beautifully taken. I've met fellow bloggers, but so far no cdp ones. One day, one day.
