Séquoia géant

Giant sequoia Petit Trianon Versailles
Yup. A giant sequoia. It was planted in 1876 and it is to die for. The building you see behind it is Jussieu's orangerie (see yesterday's post).

Planté en 1876, ce séquoia géant est magnifique. Le bâtiment que vous voyez en arrière-plan est l'orangerie de Jussieu (v. le billet d'hier).

  1. There are giant sequoias native to California along the coast and they can grow over 200 feet tall. In forests of sequoias their huge canopies will grow together and create entire unique ecosystems found nowhere else (I just read a book about them). They don't usually grow as single trees like this one (although it's lovely).

  16. They are amazing in size and age! Sequoias and palm trees make me homesick for California.
