L'orangerie de Jussieu

Orangerie de Jussieu Petit Trianon Versailles
This building is Jussieu's orangerie at Petit Trianon castle in the palace grounds. It was built by Richard Mique to whom we owe so many architectural treasures in Marie-Antoinette's little haven and is named after Bernard de Jussieu, king Louis XVth's botanist. As you can see through the window, it is still used for its primary function: keeping plants warm in the winter! The final shot is a look towards Petit Trianon's hothouses!

  7. Those walled gardens really worked well and enabled them to grow very delicate plants. A nice bit of topiary too. Lets hope the French do Wales and big favour and beat England on Saturday.
