Before VDP's break, I returned to the palace for second and third helpings with guests and attended 'the 'royal serenade'. Baroque musicians and dancers in period costumes took us on a musical
stroll around the king's apartments. Can you guess what this courtesan was doing?
I've never tried to figure out a Frenchman, but he does look pretty hip! Love his outfit -- way cool for the day!! Love your shots for the day, Ciel! I'm sending you some of our "northwest weather"!! Wish you were here to enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteIs he doing a solo Minuet?
ReplyDeleteI love being given tours by those in historic dress! Hm, I'm with Roseann - a little historic dance perhaps:) (Kona was a recently adopted rescue Springer Spaniel, I'd linked to a prior post with the background, but neglected to mention it today!)
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what he is up to, but he is wearing a beautiful coat.
ReplyDeleteHe appears to be singing. Of course, courtesan has many levels of meaning.
ReplyDeleteThat is some outfit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he is a story teller. He could not match the story of your trip to the American West told through your excellent photos that you posted a couple of days ago. Looks like a great trip, and we are glad that you are back and posting new Versailles photos again.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful way to appreciate music and history!
ReplyDeleteI'll take a wild guess that he is telling a story through song.
ReplyDeleteAs others have said - beautiful coat he is wearing and I love the color!
~Lindy
I also love that coat, but I can't imagine what he is doing if he isn't singing.
ReplyDeleteIt seems I missed your wild west photos recently. I'd better look for them.
K
I guess he was singing, but he could be explain the traditional of this event as well!Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteLéia
Telling a story.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about "Baroque musicians and dancers" or "courtesans".
ReplyDeleteBased on your photos he's flirting with you in song or he's flashing the group in the last shot! :))
I'd guess whatever he's doing you enjoyed it muchly.
Oh, maybe he's having a ball! ;) Very funny!
how fun!
ReplyDeleteSnazzy outfit.
ReplyDeleteCe "courtisan" est Monsieur Fabrice Conan :) Il apprend aux spectateurs des sérénades à faire la révérence selon si vous êtes un homme ou une femme :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going with singing Ciel..you'll have to tell us what he really is doing :)
ReplyDeleteI assumed that stef mel was right, so I checked the guy and found so many funny and interesting things about this comedian named... Conan!
ReplyDeleteNice outfit :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Ciel.
He really looks the part... nice to have you back.
ReplyDeleteJ'aurais pensé aux explications sur les moeurs du temps...
