You can read about this architect, who was favoured by the queen, by clicking here. The statue by Edmé Bouchardon represents Amour or Love, carving his bow out of Hercules' club. I have to add that the swans on the river weren't in the least cooperative...

La photo en haut à gauche de ce collage vous montre la vue depuis la chambre à coucher de Marie-Antoinette vers la "rivère anglaise" et le charmant Temple de l'Amour, créations de l'architecte Richard Mique entre 1777 et 1780. Pour en savoir plus sur cet architecte lorrain qui a beaucoup oeuvré pour la reine, c'est par ici. La statue d'Edmé Bouchardon représente Amour taillant son arc dans la massue d'Hercule. Je dois ajouter que les cygnes sur la rivière ne se sont pas montrés très coopératifs...

ReplyDeleteCertains ont de simples kiosques à musique dans leur jardin public, Versailles possède ce qui se faisait de mieux.
