In the winter with the trees stripped bare you can see so much more. You certainly get a different perspective......providing the recent heavy rain doesn't obsure a beautiful scene.
I have this shot of a tree in the fog that I took a few weeks ago, but I haven't been motivated to post it. I think you have provided the necessary kick in the pants, because I really like these.
No forgiveness from me as I, too, prefer leafless trees set against angry skies or stately architecture. Trees with leaves just block the view and cast large shadow blobs.

I agree. My favorite, though, is the cloudless winter sky, so pure without water vapor and dust.
