Random photos taken yesterday after a sleepless night in an eerily empty Versailles city yesterday morning before people started to come out onto the streets later in the day, though not as much as usual... White flowers seemed appropriate after the horror of 13 November 2015 in Paris, and this photo was taken at Saint-Louis neighbourhood market. A big foodie event was scheduled yesterday but was cancelled, due to the state of emergency.
The palace was closed, like all museums, public venues, schools,
cinemas, stadiums etc... There were only a few tourists who tried to
visit it before realising they wouldn't be able to.
Paris and Versailles side by side... Just postcards seen at a tobacconist's.
At the market, VDP saw these little paper Eiffel Towers...
**********
Just this minute, VDP doesn't quite know what to add except that like everyone else, her heart goes out to all the families of the dead and many wounded, some critically so and also to the witnesses and survivors who are traumatised. While she hopes this barbaric terror/horror will stop, she doesn't believe it will anytime soon...A thought also for Beirut...
Encouraging to see at least some folks out and about.
ReplyDeleteSad and tragic. I have no words.............................
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you got out and about. I love the paper Eiffel Towers.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers. . . so much horror but still the beauty of the flowers and nature. It has to have some soothing effect, albeit so little.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be nothing to say, Ciel! The horror of the events is mind-numbing. Be safe.
ReplyDeleteChrystalline impressions of solemn moments.l
ReplyDeleteIts so sad Ciel, I can't bear to listen to the reports and there's nothing I can say that's of any help.
ReplyDeletePoignant pictures Ciel, I'm afraid you'r right, can't see any end in sight...take care..
ReplyDeleteque dire face à la barbarie...
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how the victims and their families are feeling right now. My heart goes out to them and to all the people in Paris. It's so unbelievable what people will do to each other in the name of religion or whatever... I just can't understand it. At least it is bringing people together in new ways.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers Ceil. I feel you may be right, at least for a while.. or always, sadly.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so sad. Such madness. Your photo tour is quite poignant!
ReplyDeleteThe right kind of post for a day like today...
ReplyDeleteThe flowers seem very appropriate to me, Ciel. And I fear that you are correct that this violence will not end any time soon. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid you are right. I doubt it will stop any time soon.
ReplyDeleteA fine reminder that life has to go on, regardless.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. There are horrors around the world that don't get nearly the coverage that Paris does. Pretty discouraging.
ReplyDeleteIt is heart wrenching.
ReplyDeleteMy heart bleeds. But I agree with you that I don't think that any of this will stop any time soon. It's so sad.
ReplyDeletein the cruelty and sadness and pain of these despicable deeds it is beautiful to feel the gentle optimism and strength in little bits of paper folded into towers
ReplyDeleteI'm sickened by these horrific attacks, Ciel. I was glued to the TV Friday night in disbelief. So glad you posted…and to know you're okay.
ReplyDeleteA fitting post for today. I like the petite Eiffel towers.
ReplyDeleteQue dire?
