VDP hors les murs : la mode en toile de Jouy

1790 Toile de Jouy clothes
A bit of fashion today on VDP, Toile de Jouy fashion of course. Above, the 1790s. Pretty?

Un peu de mode aujourd'hui sur VDP, la mode en toile de Jouy bien sûr ! Ci-dessus, en 1790. Joli ?
XVIIIth century Toile de Jouy clothes
Pastoral style of the late XVIIIth century. Sweet? Next to it, barely visible is Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf's full evening dress.

Style bucolique de la fin du XVIIIè siècle. Mignon ? A côté, à peine visible, le frac de Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf.

1830 to 1858 styles: elegant?

Styles de 1830à 1858 : élégants ?

Qajar women's vest XIXth century
And finally, a Qajar Persian XIXth century women's jacket. Beautiful?

Et pour finir, une veste de femme Kajar (perse) du XIXè siècle. Belle ?

  1. Although I couldn't provide specifics without some googling, isn't there a tradition in French painting of peasants working in the fields, who could be dressed in something like this?

  4. I love looking at old fashions! These are lovely though I'm in to rush to trade my jeans and turtlenecks for them.

  7. The left one on the first shot looks a bit.like a Laura Ashley print. Not the same century however.

  8. The jacket in the last shot.. Yes, yes, yes! It's a bit like a Channel jacket, could be worn with smart jeans or dolled up to the max, j'adore..

  12. What amazes me is the color and details in the fabrics made 200+ years ago.

  15. I'm glad that you liked these outfits. They'd look a bit strange here amidst all the T-shirts and shorts, though. :)

  16. I guess they were attractive back on the day, but not for me. 👗

  17. Somehow I imagine they'd be very uncomfortable to wear!

  18. So many button and/or ribbons. I can see why a princess would need someone to help her dress. ;)
