A bit of fashion today on VDP, Toile de Jouy fashion of course. Above, the 1790s. Pretty?
Un peu de mode aujourd'hui sur VDP, la mode en toile de Jouy bien sûr ! Ci-dessus, en 1790. Joli ?
Pastoral style of the late XVIIIth century. Sweet? Next to it, barely visible is Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf's full evening dress.
Style bucolique de la fin du XVIIIè siècle. Mignon ? A côté, à peine visible, le frac de Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf.
1830 to 1858 styles: elegant?
Styles de 1830à 1858 : élégants ?
And finally, a Qajar Persian XIXth century women's jacket. Beautiful?
Et pour finir, une veste de femme Kajar (perse) du XIXè siècle. Belle ?
Although I couldn't provide specifics without some googling, isn't there a tradition in French painting of peasants working in the fields, who could be dressed in something like this?
ReplyDeleteLovely patterns for that time period.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine having to wear stuff like that these days.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at old fashions! These are lovely though I'm in to rush to trade my jeans and turtlenecks for them.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'm a fan of the old vintage fashions but these may be a bit too vintage even for me...
ReplyDeleteVery chic!
ReplyDeleteThe left one on the first shot looks a bit.like a Laura Ashley print. Not the same century however.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket in the last shot.. Yes, yes, yes! It's a bit like a Channel jacket, could be worn with smart jeans or dolled up to the max, j'adore..
ReplyDeleteThese all have a look of winter flannel pjs?
ReplyDeleteNice exhibit. The Qajar patterns are lovely.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty fabrics in so many patterns. I love the two patterns, inside and out of that jacket.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazes me is the color and details in the fabrics made 200+ years ago.
ReplyDeleteune belle idée de sortie fin juillet quand mes petites filles seront là !
ReplyDeleteA very interesting assortment!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you liked these outfits. They'd look a bit strange here amidst all the T-shirts and shorts, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess they were attractive back on the day, but not for me. 👗
ReplyDeleteSomehow I imagine they'd be very uncomfortable to wear!
ReplyDeleteSo many button and/or ribbons. I can see why a princess would need someone to help her dress. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd wear that one on the right in the top shot! Love it, Ciel.
ReplyDeleteJoli ? Euh non, pas à mon goût du tout mais c'est de l'Histoire !
