Today is a rather exceptional day. VDP isn't showing you a photo of Versailles! This is Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole aerodrome, located about 2.5 m from Versailles. Home to several aero-clubs, it is a busy place on Saturdays! It all began in 1907 with the building of an airship hangar! The cars you can see in the background of the middle shot are on A12 motorway.
Interesting Ciel!
ReplyDeleteI love those little planes! Great shots for the day!! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Ciel!!
ReplyDeleteLovely captures, Ciel!
ReplyDeleteInteresting place.
ReplyDeleteDid you go up in one ?
ReplyDeleteThey look like toy planes, and so many of them... busy place!
ReplyDeleteAirports, especially small ones like this one appears to be, are great places to watch the goings on...especially with your camera.
ReplyDeleteNice shots. How was your flight ?
ReplyDeleteWatching planes take off, still a marvel to me. Can't take my eyes off them. Still the kid in me, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom picture looks like birds on the ground. I've been a single-engine airplane twice. Fun but a little scary.
ReplyDeleteI like planes, but these are a bit too small. Anyway I could spend some time catching them on take offs and landings...
ReplyDeleteThese planes look so tiny!
ReplyDeleteHow cool. I like little airports. When the kids were little we used to go visit the local one and were allowed to walk around the tethered plane. They were out in a grassy meadow. MB
ReplyDeleteThese airstrips are cool. There's a private one ~2km away, so I often see these small planes flying about. I always wonder where they are going.
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting to be present for the first out-of-Versailles post. You are one of the few remaining true CITY Daily Photo bloggers.
ReplyDeleteThese little country airports are so much fun to be near, as your photos remind me.
ReplyDeleteWe had one in the field next to the monastery in Areuse, CH. I'd always go watch the gliders getting towed and the planes landing. Once summer we even had a resident airship for the Exhibition!
