Wonderful picture of a beautiful woman, an interesting house and I suspect there might be some interesting stories about both!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a classic portrait.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful portrait!
ReplyDeletePretty lady, but what is holding up her dress?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Barbara asked that!
ReplyDeleteAh, so I'm not the only one who had that thought? Thank you, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely building... has real character to it.
Love the house.
ReplyDeleteThat could be Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.
ReplyDeleteThe portrait looks like a model for a Limoges porcelain figurine.
ReplyDeleteLes traducteurs automatiques donnent des résultats surréalistes...
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sylvia about there must be some interesting stories here. She's from a famous, intriguing family.
ReplyDeleteun beau portrait, dans le type de ces années la, avec ce regard perdu
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait, and the house is very unobtrusive!
ReplyDeleteI can't help laughing at Barbabra's question. ;)
ReplyDeleteje ne connaissais pas
ReplyDeleteAs a recovering engineer by education, I was not aware of either Nancy Mitford or Sir Cecil Beaton. So thanks for helping to fill in the gaps. (And the gaps are BIG.)
ReplyDeleteShe was so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteFine portrait of a beautiful lady...
ReplyDeleteYour choice was perfect, Ciel! Sir Beaton's photo is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful portrait!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very classy and beautiful portrait.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo! She looks like a 1930's movie star.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post, Ciel. I loved her book on Voltaire. My question was going to be, "Could the 'neckline' be any lower? I think not." Gorgeous portrait. I also love seeing where famous people lived or where history happened.
ReplyDeleteVery nice find! I had no idea she lived in France at all!
ReplyDeleteShe is a beauty for sure. The strapless gown has always been so elegant oui! I wonder if Cecil Beaton could have worked his magic on moi :))))
ReplyDeleteA lovely portrait but I have a strong urge to fix her "wardrobe malfunction"! ;-)
