Dans le nord-ouest des Etats-Unis et en Bretagne...

Indian Relay Races Pendleton 2013
The return of VDP! I hope you are all well! Thank you for your visits while I was away! I know most of you haaaaate terribly long posts but I have to somehow show you what VDP has been up to over the past month! VDP enjoyed the Indian Relay Races and rodeoing at Pendleton Round-Up in Oregon! This above is Tyler Peasley, of the champions Omak Express Indian Relay!

VDP got lost and found churches on the prairie in Idaho!

VDP enjoyed the stunning Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, seen here from Cunningham's historic ranch cabin!

VDP loved the Badlands on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming!

VDP admired the gorgeous and intricate beadwork on the moccasins, leggings, and generally speaking on the Native regalia (not 'costumes', please), and thoroughly enjoyed the drumming!

VDP couldn't help thinking of Robert Redford while gazing at Liver-eating Johnson's grave in Old Trail Town, Cody, Wyoming.

Actually, VDP took a bit of a trip back in time in Cody.

VDP had a strange drink at Buffalo Bill's hotel...

Gunfight at the Irma Hotel.

Règlement de comptes à l'hôtel Irma.

VDP saw some amazing landscapes like this at the entrance of the Bighorn canyon.

VDP spent a lot of time on the road!

VDP a beaucoup conduit !

It was with great pleasure that VDP saw the Yellowstone river again in Montana.

And finally, VDP spent an absolutely fantastic if very foggy day with MB, CDP blogger of Stanwood, Washington and Bob in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest! It was so good to see you again!

You think your ordeal is over? Think again!
Vous pensez en avoir fini ? Raté !

VDP enjoyed amazingly warm and beautiful October weather in Quimper and took the boat to the tiny isle of Sein, a small outpost of France on the Atlantic. Seen here above are the iconic Raz promontory and La Vieille ('old lady') lighthouse.

Below, shots of the isle of Sein.

There are no cars on the island, what a joy!

VDP thanks you for your patience, back to Versailles tomorrow!

  13. These are fantastic. It's going to take a little time to go through them and absorb the plethora of photographs. What a trip and your pictures reflect the fun you had. I've not spent a lot of time in the PNW, but it certainly is a wonderful part of this country and in many ways is reminiscent of the PSW where I have spent a lot of time.

The photos of Quimper and Sein were especially nice as I've never been to either place.

    Thank you for sharing!!!

  15. So many exotic and beautiful shots! You are really partial to the North West of countries: your favorite place in Italy should be Piedmont!

  16. These shots are fabulous! As we say in the States, you should now be tanned, rested, and ready to resume VDP duties. I hope you avoided the US govt. shutdown problems, e.g., at the Tetons.

  20. I'm so glad I came looking for these. It would have been a shame to miss them.
We are planning to go Yellowstone next year on our way home from a driving holiday, with our dog, to New Mexico and Arizona.
I love the photo of the Wyoming badlands. With the different layers of rock, they're much more colorful than our Alberta badlands.
And I think "Gunfight at the Irma Hotel" might not have been a Hollywood movie hit, but that fellow's chaps, boots, spurs and gunbelt sure look authentic.
