Histoires de parfums...

Versailles and perfume: a long history. The city is home to the international perfume repository, the Osmothèque (French for 'scent archive') an unique place in the world with a growing collection of over 1800 perfumes. Last April, a delightful new place, called 'la cour des senteurs' or 'the scents courtyard' opened to the public right next to the palace and naturally, yours truly will show it to you with rapture! Follow the lady!

Versailles et le parfum : une longue histoire. C'est dans la ville que se trouve l'Osmothèque, conservatoire unique au monde rassemblant une prestigieuse collection de plus de 1800 parfums. Au mois d'avril, un délicieux nouvel endroit, "la cour des senteurs" a ouvert ses portes juste à côté du château. Votre servitrice va naturellement vous y emmener, pour ce faire, suivez madame !

    1800 scents, surely there are a few in there that won't make me sneeze or give me a migraine...I'm hoping anyway :)

    France certainly has a long and distinguished history with perfumes. This should be interesting, though, as a guy, I will pretend that this does not interest me. Don't tell anyone!

    Can't wait Ciel..I've been wearing French perfume since I started high school at age thirteen, there were two French girls in my class and the rest as they say..is history :)

    I have never heard of an osmothèque, the idea is fascinating! We would need a very large one for our stinks...
