ReplyDeleteThere is lots of charm in this train station. The French do a pretty good job of making utilitarian structures attractive. The Metro has been world famous for a long time.

ReplyDeleteWe have taken the train from Paris to Versailles several times, but I don't remember the train station looking like this. Maybe there is more than one station. The station we used was just a few blocks from the Palace, just across, I am sorry to say, from a McDonald's.

ReplyDeleteThe station you are referring to is 'rive gauche'. Not only McDonald's but also Starbucks. It's funny to watch the tourists heading from the station right into these two places!

Re the big, bad cloud on Stone Creek - no rain. Usually we get rain in the afternoons during the summer but not that day. I used a fisheye effect on my Canon S95.

ReplyDeleteI like the green arch-y thingie! Saint Lazare is one of my favourite stations in Paris. But when I went to Versailles, I usually took the RER from Montparnasse.
