Déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen, 1789


On 26 August 1789, the last article of declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen was adopted. The declaration is reproduced on the wall of Yves Le Coz elementary school in Porchefontaine neighbourhood. Yves Le Coz was mayor of Versailles 1925-1935.

Le 26 août 1789 était adopté le dernier article de la déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen. Elle est reproduite sur le mur de l'école primaire Yves Le Coz à Porchefontaine. Yves Le Coz fut maire de Versailles de 1925 à 1935.

    That's very cool. Makes it more of a living history for the kiddos.

    Re your question: I don't remember what kind of shop that was. I think it was empty and locked. Can't imagine why. :-)

    Cool idea to decorate the school with this. I bet all the kids that go there never forget when the last article was ratified!

    A great way to bring history to life. History is interesting if presented the right way.

    No I am not trotting yet. This staph infection in the knee really knocked everything awry. The infection is almost gone and I get to remove the PICC line from my arm on Wednesday but still have to take giant horse pills for another month. I went to the infection doc on Friday and Monday I will go to the bone doc. I hope I can get to out patient physical therapy. I still cant bend my leg. Such is life.
    Are you travelling in Sept. ?

    Interesting idea and I agree with Lowell and Sylvia - good way to make history more alive.

    I followed the link and many of the declaration concepts make me think a little of the U.S. "counterpart" declaration - a great history lesson (for me) and photo!
