Waiting for spring at Madame Elisabeth's orangerie. This made me feel like I was in a Jane Austen novel!
-----------------------------------
A l'orangerie de Madame Elisabeth. En prenant cette photo, j'ai eu l'impression furtive d'être dans un roman de Jane Austen !
So, an "orangerie" is a fancy home or building? Looks like spring is springing a little bit. I don't think I get the reference to Jane Austen but I don't think I've read any Jane Austen novels.
ReplyDeleteLois Anne has. But she tires of explaining things to me! ;-))
Ooops! I also wanted to say I love your header!
ReplyDeleteMe again: Re "If pigs could fly..."
ReplyDeleteThe photo is of a painting in a store window in a mall...in the background you see reflections of other stores in the mall. I didn't know how it would turn out, but was very pleased when I saw the result!
And your question on Stone Creek: Tim has, in the back of his golf cart, two long "noodles" made of Styrofoam which people use to keep them afloat in the swimming pool.
Oh, I hope this story had a happy ending, and all the lovers ended up in the right arms in this beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWe are surrounded by greenhouses here where we live, but they are so prosaic compared with an orangerie in a Jane Austen novel.
ReplyDeleteOur weather is warming up, but at least one cold spell is due by the weekend, with low temperatures dipping a good 5 degrees Celsius below normal.
Your photo, so hopeful of spring, is very welcome today.

I do see some green in that photo. Maybe spring is indeed coming. I have always thought the word "printemps" evokes the feeling of spring.
ReplyDeleteIt will be here soon. What a lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know what an orangerie is (my American brain thinks of growing oranges :( but it looks very pretty.
ReplyDelete"bis" mais ou as tu vu un printemps "first" ;)) mais l'endroit au printemps doit etre magnifique
ReplyDeleteI like the perspective...you have a good eye. Very much like a florist would see it.
ReplyDeleteI like the glow of light on the side of the building!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely place to meet Mr. Darcy! Smiles!
ReplyDelete@ Magpie: Mr Darcy will do fine, especially if it's Colin Firth thank you! :-)
ReplyDeletePourquoi ?
I'm fan of Jane Austen novels! :)
ReplyDeleteI imagine this fence full of flowers!

Elle a tombé amoureuse pour lui! :)
Ha, I just finished building a small greenhouse for my wife, but it doesn't look anything like this ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice to see some green.
I am a great admirer of Jane Austen’s novels!
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming! Nice composition with this scene.
ReplyDeleteThe green leaves are catching my eyes! SPRING!
ReplyDeleteI am right there in that novel with you. Lovely composition!

What a lovely detail on the wall! I can see why you have mentioned Jane Austen.
ReplyDeletePretty pictures. I am enjoying your little glimpses of spring in Versailles.
ReplyDeleteLove that novel and this is just delightful... wish I had a castle-like greenhouse comme ça... Where is that Mr. Darcy???
ReplyDeleteBisous,
Genie
Beautiful, soft and very romantic. MB
ReplyDeleteOH to be in a Jane Austen novel! Lol! I actually just finished a series of books by author Stephanie Barron about the life of Jane Austen. They are all fiction, but she does a MARVELOUS job of capturing what I'm sure Jane was like, and throwing in a murder mystery for the clever Jane to solve, all as I enjoy "living" in Georgian England.
