Le jardin des Récollets

This small public garden is located behind what I believe is former Récollets convent, the building above. More about its history by clicking here.

Ce petit jardin se situe derrière ce que je pense être l'ancien couvent des Récollets. Plus d'infos au sujet de son histoire en cliquant ici.

  3. One of the things I liked about Paris was the public gardens ... so I think this, too, is a wonderful addition to Versailles. People need green space and a place to sit and rest or meditate!

  6. Hi Ciel,
It's been so long since I've done much with blogging. I just want to say how much I love your new format and the music. Really nice. I've not done much with my blog but...maybe in the spring I'll get inspired. thanks.

  7. A pleasant oasis. I like the iron gate. It reminds me a bit of the metal Art Deco entrances to the Metro in Paris.

  9. Ciel, you will need to return when it is in bloom. For now, a rest on one of those benches would be welcome.

  13. I enjoyed going back to learn a little about the history and finding another architectural find that I had not seen earlier. I could not tell that it boasted a blue door, but some apparently could see that. I learned that it is blue through the comments. 27 comments led me to a picture of Antoinette in blue. I found that intriguing. The convent is very imposing. I cannot imagine what life must have been like for these poor women who had such a small garden to frequent when needed. Life was harsh indeed!

  14. A Paris, il y a aussi un ancien couvent des Récollets, entre la gare de l'est et le canal St Martin.Il a été restauré et accueille maintenant des artistes et des chercheurs.
