Bravo VP who didn't even need to see the score to guess right from the start that it was Johann Sebastian Bach's marvellous Christmas Oratorio, performed by Concerto Köln and the Collegium Vocale Gent conducted by Marcus Creed. Soloists were Christina Lanshamer (soprano), Ulrike Schneider (alto), Julien Prégardien (tenor) and Andreas Wolf (bass-baritone). Thank you to these artists amongst the very best in the world for a moment suspended in time, three hours of pure bliss and joy.

"...three hours of pure bliss and joy." Hard to find anything to compare! So glad you enjoyed these wonderful musicians and their performance!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Woody. I love when music moves you.
ReplyDeleteThree hours of blliss and joy are three hours more than many people get. It sounds wonderful, Ciel. Glad you were able to attend and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteTo sit for three hours and listen to music would be heaven. The music on it's own is enough, but to sit and do nothing, that would be something too!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Billy was part of the Clanton brothers and known as a "bad guy".
cela rejoint ma petite remarque sur Versailles et la musique, l' apparence intemporelle,Il faut dire que la qualité artistiques; na pas cessé au long des siècles.
ReplyDeletePure luxury, Oh yes. Even your words lilt with happiness. MB

Pure bliss. I would love to have been there with you.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had been there for the concert! "Culture Vultures" love that kind of entertainment!
ReplyDeleteOh! «Louis» would have loved this!
ReplyDeleteBach is «Louis'» favorite composer, with Mozart ranking very near Bach.
The Germans have a saying (sometimes attributed to Karl Barth):
"When God in Heaven commands his Angels to play music for him, they always play B a c h.
Wenn der Herr Gott im Himmel sienen Engeln Musik für ihr zu spielen, spielen sie immer B a c h.
But when they play music just for themselves, they always play M o z a r t ."
Aber wenn sie Musik für sich selbst spielen, Spielen sie immer M o z a r t .
What an amazing concert and opportunity to have been there... suspended in time with finely tuned instruments and voices...
ReplyDeleteBach, Beethoven, Mozart... I never tire of listening to the classics and love to visit your site to hear the divine music...
Bisous,
