On Saturday I went to the Christmas market at the Trianon Palace hotel. There's an ice-rink and Father Christmas for the kids and very upscale little chalets selling Champagne and Guerlain perfume. Better than nothing but still a long shot from real Christmas markets.Samedi je me suis rendue au marché de Noël de l'hôtel Trianon Palace. Il y a une patinoire et le Père Noël, ainsi que des chalets très classe qui vendent du Champagne et des produits Guerlain. Bon, c'est mieux que rien du tout mais on est bien loin des vrais marchés de Noël...
It looks like a lot of fun, if too cold! And we have nothing like this at all! That can't be the real Santa 'cause he's at Ocala's Paddock Mall!

C'est mieux que rien du tout dans la mesure que les prix ne sont pas trop élevé ; le champagne une autre histoire. Photo si poétique nous avons envie que nos proche ensemble main dans la main arrive à communiquer pour un bonheur de partage.

ReplyDeleteThere are Christmas stores in this country that are open year round. They prey on sentimentality, I think. James Joyce said that sentimentality is unearned emotion. Champagne, though, must be earned one way or another.

ReplyDeleteWe have a Christmas Market about 120 miles away in the small town of Leavenworth ... on the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains ... and it's always fun to visit. I suspect this, too, is only a shadow of the real thing found in Germany.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Mt. Rainier photo, probably not at the market. I actually made that image several years ago (back in the dark ages of film).
Hope your weather moderates soon. Lots of Christmas white, but definitely problematic for people trying to get around.

ReplyDeleteViens comparer avec celui des Champs où ça dépasse l'entendement. C'est la grande foire, bien loin de l'esprit des marchés de Noël ! Sue les Champs, tu peux acheter de l'ambre, des bonnets péruviens, un kebab, de faux parfums....Enfin ! "de Noël" je ne pense pas, mais un marché, sans doute.....

ReplyDeleteI have been to two Weihnachtsmärkte so far. I love them!!! Some of the markets here sell Chinese junk that you can find anywhere, but I like the ones with handmade stuff the best. I haven't seen anz Guerlin or champagne stands yet. :)
