Arbres bleus Avenue des Etats-Unis

The trees on Avenue of the United States are almost royal blue or 'Bleu de France' in reference to the heraldic colour that was used by French kings from the 12th century onwards. The photo is a bit blurred but as you can see, the traffic light was red so I wasn't driving! Add the white snow and you have a 'Bleu-Blanc-Rouge' national French flag photo!

*************************

  3. Blue Christmas lights are my favorite. They really mess with your depth perception. At least you were stopped!

We now have about 10-12 cm of snow :-)

  15. The slight blur adds to the moodiness of the photo. Hope your holiday was merry. I'm just back from Arkansas where we spent Christmas with my sister and her family.

  16. You know lots of interesting things...from history! The blurring actually adds a little zing to the shot, I think...and I like the way the blue is set off by the red and white lights. Bleu-Blanc-Rouge is a good description...

By the by, the word verification was "rabbi," not that it means anything...

  21. Well, it could be ours, the Brits' or the Russians', but yours has the prettiest shade of blue.

Now I know all about the snow you've been having and I've been missing.

  23. Or, also appropriate, the United States flag colours. :) I didn't know there was an Avenue of the United States...what's the story behind that?

  24. @ Becky: the treaty by which the USA became independent was signed in Versailles!
