The trees on Avenue of the United States are almost royal blue or 'Bleu de France' in reference to the heraldic colour that was used by French kings from the 12th century onwards. The photo is a bit blurred but as you can see, the traffic light was red so I wasn't driving! Add the white snow and you have a 'Bleu-Blanc-Rouge' national French flag photo!

It's beautiful. The blue is stunning, and thanks for telling us about he history of the color's use.
ReplyDeleteInteresting facts and a great combination of color!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I had no choice but to be up early (sunrise photo) as I was on my way to work :{ when I took it.

ReplyDeleteYou know lots of interesting things...from history! The blurring actually adds a little zing to the shot, I think...and I like the way the blue is set off by the red and white lights. Bleu-Blanc-Rouge is a good description...
ReplyDeleteBy the by, the word verification was "rabbi," not that it means anything...

ReplyDeleteFabulous blue lit trees. Cool shot in more ways than one.
ReplyDeleteWell, it could be ours, the Brits' or the Russians', but yours has the prettiest shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteNow I know all about the snow you've been having and I've been missing.
J'aime le Bleu de France. Very pretty color on trees this time of year.
ReplyDeleteOr, also appropriate, the United States flag colours. :) I didn't know there was an Avenue of the United States...what's the story behind that?
ReplyDelete@ Becky: the treaty by which the USA became independent was signed in Versailles!
