This looks exactly like the photos I took last year (posted on my blog early November 2009) Next time I visit Versaille, I would love to see the Potager - is it any good? and what else should I see?
Elle est belle la patine de la grille. Elle semble moins tape à l'oeil que l'Oval Buddha doré de Takashi Murakami qui lui fait pendant de l'autre coté du château.

ReplyDeleteModesty wasn't one of his virtues, if he had any, but this is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow very beautiful with that flawless blue sky in the background.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a map from the thumbnail - I'm not used to seeing such elaborate designs!
ReplyDeleteThe detail in this gate is amazing right down to the tassles on the banner. This could be the cover of a book about Versailles. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI agree, classy picture worthy of a book cover.
ReplyDeleteYou and another blogger have inspired me to get some city shots of our town this weekend. I like this detail shot, Ciel.

A very nice detail! The gold and blue look great together.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a shiny, golden gate but then, what else should I expect from the home of the Sun King?
ReplyDelete@ all: it is actually gold leaf.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and must cost a lot to keep it in perfect condition!
ReplyDeleteGold leaf? Really? I've never seen such a perfect shine on leaf. What a great detail shot of the sun king's gate, Ciel.
