At the market, on specific Saturdays, a mobile unit of the recycling centre is to be seen. This is where you can bring dangerous trash such as detergents, solvents, batteries etc. to avoid putting them in the regular trash bin.------------------------------

I like this idea a lot! And what a great help to people who can't get out and about very easily.
ReplyDeleteWe have a dump to which we can bring cans of paint, etc., but you have to have a car and it's hard to know where to go once you get there.

That is very convenient. Around here we have to wait until a specified Saturday morning and then take the dangerous items to the dump.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea, I'd like to see this on our side of the pond! We have one or two hazardous recycling days each year, always Saturday, and I never seem to be around.

ReplyDeleteAh, ça c'est une super bonne idée! On n'a pas ça ici, mais en même temps, il y a des collecteurs de piles un peu partout, la dechetterie n'est pas loin, et gratuite, donc peut-être pas besoin..

ReplyDeleteMaybe you won't believe this, Ciel, but I am hugely into garbage (it's one of my businesses with my honey). It's becoming such a huge global issue (among a ton of others, I know!) and most people don't even know where to begin to be part of the solution instead of the problem. A friend of mine wanted to introduce special garbage collectors for hospitals and other places with dangerous refuse here in Manila some years ago, but he got nowhere (politics got in the way_... which means all this crazy stuff ends up in the landfills where scavengers, many are children, go looking for anything recyclable, salable. It's a horror. This is a great service you post today. Sorry got long-winded.... :-D

This is certainly a different type of doorway! I wish we had things like this in the US. Most people just toss batteries and such in with the regular bins. There's not enough awareness on the effect discarded electronics and such have on the environment. Maybe someday!

ReplyDeleteBtw, re your comment on pcadp, I never actually of someone losing their sense of smell. Quite tragic as I understand that it affects the ability to taste food.
