Wednesday Doorway: déchetterie ambulante

At the market, on specific Saturdays, a mobile unit of the recycling centre is to be seen. This is where you can bring dangerous trash such as detergents, solvents, batteries etc. to avoid putting them in the regular trash bin.

Certains samedis, au marché, c'est la collecte des déchets dangereux !

  1. I like this idea a lot! And what a great help to people who can't get out and about very easily.

We have a dump to which we can bring cans of paint, etc., but you have to have a car and it's hard to know where to go once you get there.

  2. P.S. How is your loved one doing? I hope very well!

And thanks for the info on the tree - I know from nothing about trees but it did look like some sort of maple.

  3. That is very convenient. Around here we have to wait until a specified Saturday morning and then take the dangerous items to the dump.

  4. What a fantastic idea, I'd like to see this on our side of the pond! We have one or two hazardous recycling days each year, always Saturday, and I never seem to be around.

  5. That is awesome. We could use one of those around here.

  6. je connaissais pas ce type de collecte ambulante, c'est une bonne idee et cela n'existe pas sur Evry

  7. That's a very nice idea! I have a pile of batteries I know I can't throw away in regular trash...but I keep on missing the day when we can leave it out.

  8. How nice they come to you! Gosh, I think I forgot that I wasn't supposed to throw batteries away :{

  9. Ah, ça c'est une super bonne idée! On n'a pas ça ici, mais en même temps, il y a des collecteurs de piles un peu partout, la dechetterie n'est pas loin, et gratuite, donc peut-être pas besoin..

  10. Good idea. Just as Jacob said, we do have designated areas to dispose of chemicals and such but you have to go they to do it. MB

  12. Maybe you won't believe this, Ciel, but I am hugely into garbage (it's one of my businesses with my honey). It's becoming such a huge global issue (among a ton of others, I know!) and most people don't even know where to begin to be part of the solution instead of the problem. A friend of mine wanted to introduce special garbage collectors for hospitals and other places with dangerous refuse here in Manila some years ago, but he got nowhere (politics got in the way_... which means all this crazy stuff ends up in the landfills where scavengers, many are children, go looking for anything recyclable, salable. It's a horror. This is a great service you post today. Sorry got long-winded.... :-D

[Since you asked, the sangria was probably the worst I've ever had... but I am quite spoiled... I've had the very best in Marbella where my grandparents lived for some years. The rest of the exhibit really was a sensory delight.]

  14. We are trying something like this and, as usual, it doesn't work.

  15. 'Ménages' sounds so elegant, until you see it here. At least the idea is elegant!-- and good for the environment. Bravo!

  16. Here, we have to take the waste to a place that is inconvenient to get to and seldom open.

  17. A part les batteries je n'ai jamais vu ces collectes specialisees de produits dangereux sauf peut etre a l'hopital pour les seringles entre autres.
Une jolie photo de Montreuil plus bas.

  18. This is certainly a different type of doorway! I wish we had things like this in the US. Most people just toss batteries and such in with the regular bins. There's not enough awareness on the effect discarded electronics and such have on the environment. Maybe someday!

  19. What a cool idea. We have special bins here in places like grocery stores where you can take in old batteries.

  20. Thats a cool idea - you French seem to be much more "Green" than we Brits. xxxx

  21. What a terrific idea. There have been many times when I have had something that needed to be disposed of with no place to take it.

Btw, re your comment on pcadp, I never actually of someone losing their sense of smell. Quite tragic as I understand that it affects the ability to taste food.
