The city is more or less surrounded by forests, one of which bears the town's name. The second photo shows a path into Fausses-Reposes forest. Both were taken in August. As you can imagine, these forests were once much larger and were perfect royal hunting grounds.

We saw a little of the area's forests while stomping around Versailles. Extremely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that at least some of the forest remain.
ReplyDeleteSurrounded by a forest? Very interesting! Makes for great places to investigate.
ReplyDeleteThe top one looks tropical with what appear to be big ferns. By contrast, we are surrounded by rivers and suburban sprawl.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a city surrounded by a forest. I never thought of it: we have the sea, the hills and some trees, but certainly not a forest...
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful indeed. It is nice to live surrounded by trees. Healthy too. MB
ReplyDeleteHere we also can find several trees in "green"mood :) it's beautiful!

If I was a hunter, I would prefer the Royal Hunting Grounds;a better class of game.
ReplyDeleteJ'adore ce nom, Fausse-repose.. ça dit plein de choses!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I would love to see another picture of this now that it's fall-- are the leaves changing color?
ReplyDeleteMust be nice to live in such a royal place. :)
ReplyDeleteA forest is a treasure these days.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make a foray into this forêt.
