Avenue de Paris, yesterday afternoon, the convent of the serving sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I'm not sure the translation is right, but it's literal enough! When I came home from the dentist's at around 9:00 pm, the temperature had dropped to about 20°F/-6°C.

Hier après-midi, avenue de Paris. En repassant vers 21 heures en rentrant de chez le dentiste, il faisait - 6°...
Seems like it is cold just about everywhere north of the equator
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Convent. I went to a convent all my life and the Nuns never had a convent like that.
ReplyDeleteLook at the lovely lightening. Gorgeous.
How's the tooth? MB
The snow must lay another layer of silence on the convent. I am surprised by how much snow there is in your and Olivier's photos. Certainly more that here, but it's much colder in the central US.
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful and impart a comforting hush. And how did you make out at the dentist? Are you feeling better, dear Ciel.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work! The blanket of snow does add to the solitude and serenity of the convent.
ReplyDeleteQuite lovely...can you get inside to see what there is to see?
ReplyDelete20º is cold. I love snow pictures, though I must admit to not enjoying being out in the cold to photograph the stuff. Hard to have it both ways! Hope your tooth is better!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really beautiful scene anyway, and the light is perfect. Some of the best scenes are in cold weather, I think, but it't not much fun to stand still and figure out how to shoot it. These are wonderful! Sorry about that tooth. I hope it's better now.
ReplyDeleteJolies photos de Versailles qui a revetu son manteau blanc hivernal.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very lovely building! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! The blue sky and the snow really make a nice image. It's cold here too.
ReplyDeleteIt's like the convent is protected by a Centurian of Trees. Nature accents all of us in seen and unseen ways.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I'm sure the sisters have a "servant heart." They sure have a big place.
ReplyDeletetu as la chance, ma dentiste a annulée tous ces RDV, elle a pas réussie a sortir de son village....j'espère qu'elle pourra me prendre aujourd'hui sinon bjr le Weekend.
ReplyDeleteC'est beau sous la neige
Tooth report: ;-) still painful, but at least it's getting treated. Next appointment Tuesday evening.
ReplyDeleteGreat place, lot of snow. Hope your appointments with the dentist will end soon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !
ReplyDeleteAnd I do LOVE the BLUE sky!:-) Have a nice weekend.
(I hope you don`t have toothache anymore?!)
C'est beau sous la neige...
ReplyDeleteJ'espère que le dentiste t'a donné un anti-douleur pour tenir le week-end!
The whole of Europe seems to be blanketed in snow.
ReplyDeleteKeep warm!! Your dentist must stay open late if you came home at 9pm!! Guess it's nice if he takes care of emergencies. No dentists around here would be so accomodating.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful place and a good translation.
ReplyDeleteQuite an imposing compound for a convent. Here the convents are quite small. Lovely winter pictures and great blue skies. Hope you received something for the pain. I hate toothaches. Feel better and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful winter pix. I like the shadows of the trees. Ciel: It is a little difficult to be able to comment on your site every day do bear with me. You are in my thoughts. I wonder if your French would be more usueful in speaking Portuguese than my pidgeon Spanish
ReplyDelete«Louis» hopes the dental work goes well for you. Toothaches can be among the most annoying pains we can experience.
ReplyDeleteYour translation is correct for the Sisters.
Beautiful convent! It reminds me a lot of the girl school I went to way back when, though. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWe keep hearing here about the crazy weather Europe is experiencing.
Dear Ciel
ReplyDeleteYour picture really touched my heart now...wonderful place, I would like so much to visit there!
So peaceful!
Léia
@ Suzanne: I don't believe there is a chance of entering the place...
ReplyDeleteThat little dusting of snow really adds an extra something special to something that is already very special :o)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new year.
-6ºC and going to the dentist? Poor you! :-) Hope you are OK now!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love snwo scenes like that! So peaceful and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove these shots, Ciel. The light is perfect. I hope your tooth is doing better.
