Gare de Versailles-Chantiers

A while back, I showed you the inside of the right bank train station. I have yet to show you the outside. Until that happens, here's another of Versailles' three main train stations: Chantiers. This is where you head out to Chartres and Normandy, or the other way to Paris Montparnasse. I was so glad that the moon had risen above the building when I took the picture last Tuesday evening! Can you spot it?

  2. Such a nice-looking train station. We took a bus to the Palace, so didn't go through any of the stations.

And yes, I embiggened the photo and there it was...that nice little slice of moon...

That sky is sooo blue! Beautiful!

  3. I wish that I was there right now. I've been to Paris,Chartres and Rouen in Normandy but I've never stopped at Versailles. The sky is so wonderfully blue.

  4. Oh, yes, I remember this. I think my family once got very lost trying to find it and then get the right train.

  7. Interesting architecture - different than I expected. I can see the crescent moon! I like the people in the photo too with the young woman in a blue dress complimenting the sky. And the round street lamps. Lots of interesting details.

  12. A moon and a train station. What else does one need? Ah, a memory stick with some space left!

  14. Cieldequimper:

We just returned from Northern Ohio, the Lake Erie, Marblehead, Oberlin area. I'll have to say that Lake Erie is a clean and inviting, beautiful lake with a fabulous shoreline. It totally surpassed my expectations. Northern Ohio is full of miles and miles of pasture, barns, bays, harbors, islands, at least one lighthouse, stunning blue skies, Orthodox churches, cute little shops.....

Unfortunately, other people don't usually want to be around me when I am in "photographer mode." So I didn't capture nearly as many photos as I'd hoped.

It is so fun to discover a new region of one's own country. Thanks for asking.

  15. Regarding traveling. Before adventuring back to France, I am going to read the archives of every CDP site I can get my eyes on for France and plan my trip around those sites. Seeing this train station in this great photo just makes me want to visit your fine country again!

  16. The station is quite attractive, especially the rounded front and the arched windows.
