This is a fantastic capture, Ciel! Rain and thunder clouds make for some really dramatic photos, but I don't think many of us can capture them with a castle! ;)
A French novelist just might refer to those skies as foreboding! I love they way they are brighter just above the palace. They almost look photoshopped into the picture. So much visual interest and to think you didn't want to hold them back for Skywatch Friday!
Ceil Thank you for visiting my blog and your kind comments. I have fond memories of a visit to the Chateau and an afternoon walking around Versailles. Your photos are bringing back the memories I have of that trip. I'm glad I found your site.
Wow! Absolutely beautiful. It looks like a painting. I am definitely going to be visiting Versaille in October and I know I'll need more than one visit to see it all.

Impressive clouds, great occasion for a couple of interesting shots.

It's been looking like this in New York City lately too, we've had terrible thunderstorms for the last week.
ReplyDeleteNow Ciel, tell me you used a zoom lens here. I know you did because the distances are compressed.
ReplyDeletePowerful photographs! Did you get stormy weather?
Very dramatic and threatening but beautiful. Like my ex..j/k about that part. :-)
ReplyDeleteFormidable!
ReplyDeleteI love the top photo of the clouds looming over Versailles!
ReplyDeleteMenacing clouds indeed. And somehow these photos have the look of vintage postcards.

ReplyDeleteEt voilà encore la preuve que ton (gros) nuage ne te quitte plus....
ReplyDeleteCela ne fait rien, le ciel de Quimper siet(d?) bien à Versailles...
Une seule parade : courir ou un parapluie !
ReplyDeleteAre you having an unusually wet summer? Seems like many people are experiencing unusual weather.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous sky! I love the drama.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, but a little spooky! It's been raining over here in Georgia too.

Very dramatic and more than a little menacing. Did they live up to their promise of a downpour?
ReplyDeleteI would say that is a very dramatic sky. It looks full of rain---please send it this way.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots. MB
Great capture of the sky and the buildings!
ReplyDelete@ all: actually, no! It didn't rain on Monday evening!
ReplyDelete@ Jacob: you've obviously had a good night's sleep!
It looks like you brought the storm with you from vacation. It allowed for some beautiful photos, though. I really enjoyed these!
ReplyDeleteYes, the sky does appear to be a menacing one!
