Waiting for Bastille Day fireworks on 13 July. As you know, a great many of Versailles' electrical enclosures have been decorated by the Versailles Mural Art School. VDP has shown you a few before, here, here and there. Oh and a particularly cute one here. But VDP digresses. This, above, was one of the first ones to appear and represents the great composer Jean-Baptiste Lully who worked for king Louis XIV... All Monday Murals are this way!
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful, Ciel! So suitable for Versailles!
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate that we don't hear more Lully, Rameau, etc., these days. J.P. looks quite elegant in this portrait.
ReplyDeleteWould that all electrical enclosures, everywhere, have such wonderful artwork applied.
ReplyDeleteA nice place to sit and wait too!
ReplyDeleteVery nice done!
ReplyDelete3D on 2D very clever. I like it.
ReplyDeleteA very good idea and a nice work!
ReplyDeleteMuch better than the utterly utilitarian units around most of our cities.
ReplyDeleteWhy not take advantage of dressing up something drab and ugly. Win for the artist and win for the masses.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea and wish more communities would do the same here in Canada!
ReplyDeleteLully beobachtet ganz schön streng die Beiden, was wird er wohl denken...?
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteA great way to make those dull boxes look nicer. :)
ReplyDeleteVery artistic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, well done Versailles City Council of of course VDP for taking a lovely picture...
ReplyDeleteI love this stuff. Contemporary art, trompe l'oeil, and an homage to your history. So rich. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteVraiment classe!
ReplyDeleteClassic mural Ciel, beautifully painted in cameo colour and style.
ReplyDeleteThis ends up looking more like a sculpted piece than a mural!
ReplyDeleteWe are seeing utility boxes decorated more and more, which is a development I kind of like. But, I have not yet seen one as sophisticated and classical as this one.
