Not so very long ago, Geoff in Wanstead posted a great Spitalfields (East London) Jack the Ripper style photo. This is as close as VDP can get to that kind of feeling! It's the alley that leads to Versailles' wheat mills which you had seen here. It really does look a bit like a London mews or close, especially with that white door!
The alley leads to the back yard of the mills!
La ruelle mène à l'arrière du moulin !
Oh yes, great, I love those cobblestones, I can hear those horse drawn cabs rattling over them in the fog at night. You've posted London, I've posted France ;)
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine that place by night. Very fitting!
ReplyDeleteThe first image sure does look like a London alleyway. I started worrying and looking over my shoulder.
ReplyDeleteLove those cobblestones. They speak of history to me!
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a scene from the U.K. I love it.
ReplyDeleteYou don't see so many cobblestones around Perth - I love them - great atmosphere in these shots :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. If I didn't know it was your site, I'd guess London. I do love the look of wet cobblestone.
ReplyDeleteCobblestones in the rain are so beautiful, love the perspective and colours in the stone in first shot. Did I see a black coat tail disappearing around the corner :)
ReplyDeleteVery eerie & cinematic perfect ....feels like ol'Jack is just around the corner ...

ReplyDeleteAdd some darkness to your first image and you'll have Ripper-ville.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of cobblestones but they aren't always easy to walk on. :)
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is perfectly eerie, I'm anticipating someone jumping out at me.
ReplyDeleteI got the idea, and the first picture is a masterpiece! Brava!

I thought from the title you were referring to the rain! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a London mews - one of my favourite places to explore there, Ciel!
ReplyDeleteEven the house appears to have been cobblestoned!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like once you enter in, there is no turning back!

Was that a figure I saw, fleetingly in the shadows...
