Some days start out really foggy. Actually, sometimes the fog lingers
until well after noon and it gives backlit life an almost black and white feel... What you are seeing here is the view from the
north wing of the palace across the honour courtyard towards Saint-Louis cathedral (yes, that'd be
the dome there approximately in the middle). These photos have been taken from more or less the same spot as this one had.
VDP loves the pattern of the cobblestones of the honour courtyard!
VDP adore les mouvements des pavés de la cour d'honneur !
These shots certainly have a timeless feel to them!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I love monochromatic, the fog really accentuates that mood.
ReplyDeleteThe fog makes for some beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear the clatter of horses' hooves and carriage wheels against cobblestones now.
ReplyDeleteThere is a sense of mystery and secrecy round these walkers. Lovely scenes.
ReplyDeleteI love the mood of these photos. The first one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a little fog for atmosphere, love the first one
ReplyDeleteFog does add mystery!
ReplyDeleteWow that is some dramatic fog - makes everything feel a bit olde worldy and atmospheric
ReplyDeleteThe difference between the seasonal colours is quite dramatic Ciel.. Both are totally super fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat interests me most is the presence of so many people in the gloom. Fog photos usually have few or no people. There is a nice tension here.
ReplyDeleteI love photographing with fog but, we don't see it all that often here. These shots have a great atmosphere about them.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you had entered these in a gloom and doom contest, you'd have won handily. Yikes! Looks cold, too. Very dramatic stuff, Ciel!
ReplyDeleteEverything is more fascinating with he fog...
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrr!
ReplyDeleteI really like how you've captured the sky and distant buildings in the 1st one. The foreground's not bad either.
ReplyDeleteThe cobble stones in that huge courtyard provide a great texture for your photo. The people provide scale, and the fog gives a somber mood. Fine series.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully moody, Ciel!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! Love the atmosphere...
