If you click here, you will see the state Hôpital Richaud was in three years ago. The construction work to transform the former royal hospital into luxury flats is coming along nicely and the features of the beautiful old building have been kept. Incidentally, if you follow the above link, you will also read a few lines on the history of Richaud hospital.

It looks cleaner now than it did before. The work appears to be going smoothly indeed.

ReplyDeleteLike our new upcoming hotel in an old hospital, I don't know that I can stay in a place where so many died.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if such a job, with more housing for the rich, can ever be done "nicely." Your post also makes me wonder what a hospital was really like in the 18th and 19th Centuries.

ReplyDeleteThis made me think of a place I saw in Italy that looked like a huge villa and it turned out that it had been restored and turned into condominiums. I thought about how much fun it would be to live in a place like that.
