Gaîté translates as joyfulness, gaiety, cheerfulness, playfulness... If you were standing with VDP looking at à la gaîté café, you'd have Notre-Dame covered market behind you and the antiques district to your right! This sign tells us that there have been food and drink here for a long time!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to go eat now!!
ReplyDeleteI'm up for some gaite! (Don't know how to do the accents. ;-)) )
ReplyDeleteI could use with some gaiety at the moment!! Neat cafe'
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with a little gaiety. Come to think of it, nothing wrong with a lot of gaiety.
ReplyDeleteSend some gaiety this way - it'll brighten any dreary winter!:) Lovely place, would enjoy poking around antiques nearby too.
ReplyDeleteMakes me thing of Gaîté Parisienne. Not enough room for a can-can.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful location!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice place.
ReplyDeleteUne merveilleuse enseigne. J'espère qu'après les libations le gîte est offert!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, I presume hand-carved, sign !
ReplyDeleteles libations continuent !
ReplyDeleteAh, a perfect place for a beverage... or two.
ReplyDeletethe sign conveys the meaning well!
ReplyDeleteCafe, markets and antiques.. Oh la! Sounds like the perfect threesome :)
ReplyDeleteIt appears to be a delightful little place and so much nicer than all the chain cafes and restaurants we have in this country. Unique is sometimes good in and of itself. I would think, though, you French folks are more hardy than I, sitting outside in the winter to eat and drink! :)
ReplyDeleteI am feeling happier just looking at it! Have you tried this place before? I bet it's nice in spring/summer.
ReplyDeleteTo sit outside in February they must be cheerful and optimistic...
ReplyDeleteEat, drink and be merry---that says it all. MB
ReplyDeleteLooks very enjoyable and I like the bits of bright color.
ReplyDelete~Lindy
I'll be there as soon as I can!
ReplyDeleteSounds like we would be in the perfect place.
