Beautiful details, but that's to be expected!
ReplyDeleteLet's check out that ceiling...
Beautiful detail indeed and your captures are terrific! Thanks for sharing, Ciel!!
ReplyDeleteOh good! Let's start a fire. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteNo need of fire here now, but I appreciate the fireplace and the ready logs...
ReplyDeleteI wonder. How did roaring fires even attempt to heat these monstrous rooms?
ReplyDeleteThe grandeur of this place is something unlike anything I'd ever seen...it literally took my breath away.
ReplyDeleteFireplaces are good. I had to laugh, though. We have a small electric one which provides just enough heat on a cool Florida morning. Compared to this fireplace it looks like a mini-stove!
Ahem...I agree and applaud your desire to post Versailles pics on VDP. But, you have another blog or two...right? ;)
I'm just pulling your leg. Sort of.
Pretty amazing...Beautiful designs indeed!
ReplyDeleteWhen I visit old buildings in Europe with all those fireplaces, I wonder how uncomfortable the rooms were in winter. Fireplaces don't radiate heat very far,the windows must have been very drafty and so on.
ReplyDeleteQuite the details! I'd love to have a fireplace that massive, but it wouldn't need to be so decorative.
ReplyDelete;-)
Hope you're having a sunny Saturday!

Whoa, that is a massive fireplace, I've never seen one that uses logs that large, I bet it keeps the room toasty on those cold nights.
ReplyDeleteCiel, the artistry and craftsmanship are just amazing!
ReplyDeleteA 'Herculean' fireplace for sure Ciel! The details are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe surgery went fine. The next three days were awful but now I'm OK. Thanks for your care, Ciel.
