A pause under the trees in the evening light last week on Avenue de Paris with the king's big stables (the building on the right) and the North wing of the palace in the background. Some of you seemed surprised that I am reluctant to post photos of people. Actually, as you can see here, I sometimes do but from afar or with blurred faces. European privacy/image laws actually forbid publishing photos of people without their consent. Hence all of the problems companies like Google and FB encounter on this side of the big pond where privacy is sacred!

Beautiful capture for the day, Ciel! I think your privacy laws are terrific and I wish we had the same!! Hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend!!
ReplyDeleteoh so wunderbar !
ReplyDeleteEinen guten Samstag dir.
A perfect shot for a Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThis kind of dreamy photo from afar is the best anyway.
This picture reminds me of the scorching days that we recently spent over there... Blessed shade! :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
Wonderful capture, perfect for yesterday's theme.
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to say on this side of the pond privacy is a SIN? hahahaha You might so right.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I am glad I was able to find your blog again after I took a brief hiatus from the online world!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot capturing a pleasing afternoon mood. Being in commercial photography, I try to be careful about people pictures too... to be safe legally, I should have them sign a model release if I want to post their identifiable image on my website.
ReplyDeleteA great picture... and another bench!
ReplyDeleteA lovely, serene image. Great light. I didn't know that bit about European privacy laws. I think here you're fair game if you're out in public, but you cannot use someone's image for commercial purposes without their consent.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful and serene shot. I like it. I agree with you about photographing people--I don't like to---well I don't like my picture taken either. And then lately I have been posting my very own picture on my blog. How bizarre is that???

The most beautiful golden light and such a peaceful photo, sigh.
ReplyDeleteThose privacy laws are a pretty good idea - I don't think we have them, but I also feel a bit hesitant about people photos unless I've asked them, they're likewise far away/faces obscured, or it's a public event where photography is practically expected (e.g., parades).
Absolutely beautiful! The light it perfect. :)
ReplyDelete@LondonLulu and Lowell: the fact that you're walking down a street, be it during an event, doesn't mean that you want your face to appear on the web! Your image belongs to you alone, that's the philosophy of our laws...
ReplyDeleteLovely light. It seems like a photo from out of the past...like a century or two ago.
ReplyDeleteSuper image Ciel, the light is beautifully mellow on the building, so nice to see the sun around you must be very happy.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this photo, especially the light.
ReplyDeleteBelle lumière qui viens sur cette façade, l'homme resta immobile.
ReplyDeleteI love the lighting, the angle, and the setting. Beautiful photo! :)
