Vue générale du bourg sous Louis XIII

Continuing the Jacques Martin comics exhibition, here's a general view of Versailles in the days of king Louis XIII, under whose reign Versailles became a favourite royal hunting place. The details will look better if you click on the photo.

  8. It is beautiful, Ciel. Loaded with bright colors. An artist who does this must have infinite patience and an attraction to small details.

  9. In rather Monet-Renoir colors, no less. No wonder the peasants had to eat cake.

  19. I like this kind of images which can show us much more about the past than a mere description.

  20. The picture is wonderful, but the true wonder is the sunny day here in Colmar with a refreshing Alsatian white wine! :)

  22. It's wonderful to see and read about your local history... I just wish sometimes I had the time to learn so much more. I actually did the French Revolution for my history exams as a 16 year old... I didn't do too well.
