Nuit des musées 2012 : la passion des astres

So this year's theme at the palace during the European Museums Night was 'passion for planets'... These are details of the ceiling of the Abundance drawing room. They were very cleverly video projected onto a screen. You will of course have recognised Neptune, both a god and a planet. As you can see, it was pitch dark in there, so no photo of the ceiling!

  4. The display must have been quite spectacular but the theme puzzles me. What could inspire passion is a giant stormy gasbag? (And just to be clear, I am not referring to that particular judge.)

  5. We have "doors open" Toronto this weekend. I think it's a similar idea to night of the museums. We went to some in Berlin a few years ago. It's a fun idea. Looks like yours had some creative showings! :)

  6. This is a lovely opening for a night out at the museum! I like that it was so dark you can only see the projections, really pops out!

  8. Vous etiez assis ou debout pour regarder le plafond?.. Quelle jolie idée que de faire des planètes par le biais de spots sur les peintures!

  10. That's a nice shot of the planets and/or whatever, Ciel! You either used flash or held your camera very still. I remember seeing a video projected on the side of a building (in Germany, I think) where the building appeared to take on different shapes. Did you post that a while back?

Re HDR: I agree. Once is awhile is OK. But it easily can get to be too much!

Hope you're having a great day and why do I keep seeing you dancing around the room?

  12. Great shot Ciel, and I definitely do have a passion for planets, I'm trying to visualize the ceiling behind the darkness.

  15. Not exactly my kind of thing, but you caught it beautifully. The night of the museums is one of the silliest things I have ever seen: exhausted and uninterested people crowding usually quiet and charming places in hours that belong to sleep.

  18. You must have held your camera very still to capture this!
