Les soldes d'hiver
The winter sale started last Wednesday. On Saturday it was rather crowded, so that I bought... nothing! There is a lonely Christmas tree on Artsy Versailles today.
Les soldes d'hiver ont commencé mercredi dernier. Samedi il y avait foule, ce qui m'a fait tourner talons bredouille ! Il y a un sapin malheureux sur Artsy Versailles aujourd'hui.
You only have two "sale" days a year, right? That makes it difficult. We have so many sales they don't mean much anymore, although I did buy a $70 sweater today for $21. Not bad.
I think the "soldes" have already passed here. I got a few bargains on Christmas decorations though. That was nice. Hope you are getting some bargains too!
Hello, Ciel! What a great scene with the colors and movement in the second shot and your sign shot is marvelous! I'm not fond of shopping in crowds either.
@ Lowell: we have two sale periods that last several weeks (5 I think) and then we have two other sale periods that are up to each shop and in-between them, we have promotional days...
I'd be outta there lickety split... no, no, no... what am I saying!?... I'd never go near the place! But then I wouldn't get such a neat crowd shot! :-)
I like the feeling of movement in your photograph... me personally, I try to avoid crowds, especially holiday crowds, well, especially shopping in general :^)
Excellent second image Ciel, you can get the exact feel of the mad rush into the shop when it opens in the hope of getting that elusive bargain! I'm glad you didn't enter in, you would have gotten trampled in the crowds!!
I'll wait longer still. Not really excited about sales. I'll buy when I need it. Hate buying summer clothes in the fall. Will they fall out of fashion?
My sisters got all the shopping genes. I hate shopping. I never shop sales--too many people and too much stuff. (Of course, then I bemoan the fact that I never get a bargain!)
I like the motion in the second shot, it looks insanely crowded.
I decided to go out Sunday and get a new Winter coat. It seems our unusually warm Winter has left the stores filled and no buyers. I got a nice toasty warm coat for very little money and the stores were not at all busy like your are!
Thank you for visiting and leaving a thought! Sorry about the moderation, a bit tired of spam at the moment!
ReplyDeleteYour bottom photo nicely conveys the idea of a mass of people crowding into a store for the sale. I haven't figured out how you did it . . .
ReplyDeleteHier auch. Übers Jahr gerechnet, gebe ich allerdings mehr für Tee als für Kleidung aus ;)
ReplyDeleteSchnäppchen und eine gute neue Woche dir.

ReplyDeleteI love your treatment of the rushing mob!
Nice picture, it gives a sense of the crush of people shopping.
ReplyDeleteWow, must have been a good sale. Love the first shot.
ReplyDeleteI love the second shot. The rush to the best item is so present in this shot. I do not enjoy shopping in crowds.

To much rush and bustle for me! I wouldn't have bought anything either!
