VP of
Livorno DP sometimes shows comparisons between then and now, which gave me this idea. This opaque watercolour by Larouzière (which is a postcard I photographed) shows Avenue
Nepveu with the palace chapel on the left. The scene below, though not the exact replica was caught on 14 January...
A very close comparison! Most interesting and well-done, Ciel! But did you notice how in the olden days the buildings seem to be falling in on each other. That would have been a little scary, I think.
ReplyDeleteEs gibt zum Glück noch eine Lampe, an der man sich treffen kann.
ReplyDeleteEinen guten Freitag dir.
Very interesting. I have enjoyed VP's comparisons and I enjoy your comparison today.
ReplyDeleteRemington or Borglum? There is room in your collection for both. Remington is better known, and is perhaps the better investment, but personally I like today's Borglum better.
I really enjoy before and afters such as this. Charming watercolor and I like your interpretation as well.
ReplyDeletethings change, things stay the same...nice comparison!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to see. I might have to think about doing one.
ReplyDeleteThe pavement is less dangerous to walk upon these days. Looks like the air is cleaner, too.
bon week end
Very interesting, I think. I love the comparison of the THEN and NOW.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the undeserved mention, it is always interesting to have an idea about how things were at the times...
ReplyDeleteJ'adore comparison shots Ciel, it looks like there is another building on the right hand side that is the same as well as the palace chapel.
ReplyDeleteYou will never believe it but today we were meant to have heavy rain and thunderstorms, well about 5miles down the road they did, I could see it, but where I am, not ONE DROP, I was NOT happy, so yes please, send me some drizzle haha!
The way it used to be looks more inviting.
ReplyDeleteWish we could time travel.
It is amazing how things change, even from when I was young.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing this before-after thing.
ReplyDeleteI have the impression that "avant" was more charming...
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
Quite an interesting contrast in time. Great post.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)
It has changed a bit!
ReplyDeleteI love these comparison posts! Hope we'll be seeing more :D
