Howdy cowboy!

Bastille Day 2011 had a distinctly American flavour to it! The theme of the traditional 'bal populaire' or people's ball held on Notre-Dame market square was line dancing! Here on stage Versailles' 'les talons sauvages' line dancing association. There's an organ pipe of sorts on Artsy Versailles.

Le bal du 13/7 au soir place du marché Notre-Dame était très américain ! Soirée country et line dancing animée par "les talons sauvages", l'association country de Versailles. Il y a un orgue étrange sur Artsy Versailles.

  5. Line dancing in France? Please, stop before it is too late!

It makes me thing of of the time, many years ago, when our family went to Euro Disney. The rodeo clown for our section (who, as it happened, was from Kansas City) picked me to represent our section is the shootout with Annie Oakley. Buffalo Bob asked me in French where I was from. I said something like "Zhe sweeze de Saynt Louis, Mizzouree!" "Oh shit, an American" Buffalo Bob said under his breath. Annie won the contest.

  11. How strange for the French national holiday to have an American theme. Somehow that just doesn't jive for me.

  16. I agree with EG... huh? I often confuse line dancing with square dancing... used to do a lot of the latter when I sang in a semi-prof choir in my teens... :-)

  20. Line dancing on Bastille Day? How curious! I like country music but I will proudly announce that I have never line danced -- however, I find it so captivating that whenever I see it, I have to watch.
