For this theme day, I had actually intended an April's fool red post, lol, but I didn't get round to going in search of it. Time, time... I am sorry that this is an archive photo, taken a few months back, but it's the best I can do due to a hectic work schedule. This is Louise-Marie d'Orléans' bedroom inside the Grand Trianon castle in the palace grounds. She was queen of Belgium. Here she is, as painted by Nicaise de Keyser.

These are both beautiful photographs! And are, of course, perfect for theme day. Did all the queens of the day have their own bedroom at the Grand Trianon?
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent room! The ceiling must be 10 meters or more! Exquisite details are everywhere. The queen looks less than thrilled to be posing for a painting.
ReplyDeleteSuperbe Rouge et Or.
Gorgeous room, though I do think I'd not sleep well in that showplace! Good choice, especially given your schedule. Hope things settle down for you soon ... I suppose it is the price one pays for having been on holiday.
ReplyDeleteQueen of the day!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what you would have come up with for April Fool's Day, but I'm always happy to see the inside of these lavish places. And what's wrong with archives? Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteThe infamous red diapers of baby kings-to-be would have been great for april fools day. The red bed is fantastic, though.

ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent bedroom! Definitely fit for a queen. It's a fabulous choice for the theme, Ciel — so Versailles!
ReplyDeleteA magnificant bed - imagine sleeping in it andthat chandelier looks bigger than the bed.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress. The decor and clothing of long ago are so romantic, but only if you had money and privilege.
Cheers.

Oh yes, wonderful sumptuous reds as one would expect from your marvellous Versailles blog. Superb.
ReplyDeleteFunny my lady was wearing your duffle!
Super pictures for you because I forgot all about theme day.
ReplyDeleteMaybe my mind played an April Fool Joke on me. LOL MB
Many shades of red around in this suptuous residence.
ReplyDeleteThe red bed is a fantastic entry on this theme. Glad you went to your archives! :-)
ReplyDeleteRegal red. Even the backdrop of her portrait. An elegant room and appointments. Good choice for this theme day.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choix !
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful. Those kings and queeens really knew how to live in style!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could sleep in that room. I would hate to have to dust it, too.
ReplyDeleteyou have captured the elegance and aristocracy red. nicely done! I hope all is well

She looks like she had STYLE, and was surrounded with style! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell that's pretty fancy schmancy but that's what Versailles is all about isn't it! :)

That truly looks like a royal bed. My daughter wants it for her room. Except, in pink, please.
ReplyDeleteWow what an ornate bed. Fit for a queen, I guess.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how ornate the world use to be compared to the style today. The details and the amazing craftsmanship always gets my attention.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, RED bed upon which to lay her head! Lovely theme day snap!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, Ciel. I'm so glad you posted them. I've never heard of the color red having anything to do with April Fool's Day. Live and learn. :-)

Now this is tres, tres chic. (sorry no accent marks, I don't know how to do those in a comment). Beautiful deep reds. And those curls, like a poodle on the side of her head can be forgiven in such a setting.
ReplyDeleteAs for your question about my picture today, I was about 60 cm. from the lady when I took the picture. I couldn't believe my luck because she moved away after two shots, but it all came out ok.
You found a beautiful solution! Hope your days get a slower pace soon. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how well I'd sleep in a place like this, but I guess if your whole life was a spectacle you could grow accustomed to almost anything.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo!
Blague d'avril poisson or not, your choice is excellent for the rouge theme!
ReplyDeleteBusy busy busy .. it sounds like my life (smile) .. much better than the alternative.
ReplyDeleteWonderful archive photos. The bed looks so small however I suspect the room is so large the bed looks small in comparison.
happy theme day
What a great photo to have in your archives! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo, wonderful history - a perfect combination for the theme.
