Wednesday Doorway: la chapelle de la Providence
Immediately next to Saint-Louis cathedral is the entrance to the Providence Chapel which was built in 1764. -------------------------------------- Jouxtant la cathédrale Saint-Louis se trouve la chapelle de la Providence, construite en 1764.
My mom used to have a poster that had a mish mash of doorways and it was very cool - I think you should make one with all of your doorways...very neat!
I have never been inside of the Saint-Louis cathedral because it is away's locked when I'm in town but I have been inside of the Providence Chapel. Very beautiful place I tuck a few photo's of paintings inside.
Thank you for visiting and leaving a thought! Sorry about the moderation, a bit tired of spam at the moment!
A nice-looking door for sure. Why, to you think, they call chapels by the name of "Providence"?
ReplyDeleteWhat is "providential" about them?
Sorry, I'm just being a little snarky this evening! No, I'm not sorry, I'm enjoying it.
Hope you're sound asleep by now!
Au revoir!
Jolie facade.
ReplyDeleteOk. We like the doorway.
ReplyDeleteWill we like the interior?
hint hint
;-)
The architecture was grand, Roman with a french imperial twist. It could be a tomb as well as a chapel.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very solid.
ReplyDeleteLove the door series. How many do you think have been blue doors? Quite a few I imagine. MB
ReplyDeleteI like the touch of gold on the door. Looks like a small sun!
ReplyDeleteOlivier is right, there is something strange in this façade, almost esoteric... Always funny to find a street number on a building like this.
ReplyDeleteI like the name above the door!
ReplyDeleteIt's massive!I loved the contrast "blue and white", just beautiful!
