November City Daily Photo Theme: Doorways

This month's City Daily Photo theme is doorways. Easy in Versailles. This is one of the grandest examples. It's the former war, marine and foreign affairs ministry of king Louis the 15th. It was built in 1762 by Jean-Baptiste Berthier. A few details of this gorgeous building located on the Avenue of the American Independence caught my eye. England signed the treaty of Paris in Versailles in 1783, thus ending the American war of Independence... It is now the main public library of the city.

  7. Your photos of the details really enhance the presentation. Thank you.

Yes, the door theme does seem to be perfect for places like Versailles, with elegant doorways. My post is not due to be posted for a few more hours, but it was a challenge for me because so many places in our area, such as restaurants and hotels, do not even have doors because it is always warm and restaurants and hotel lobbies are open to the air.

So you have an Avenue of the American Independence, eh? I seem to have forgotten where that treaty was signed. Another good link between our countries.

  11. Golly what an imposing door. I am so pleased that you took some of the detail shots. It is not always easy to make important details out from the landscape shot.

Magnificent example for our Theme Day.

Doorways. Doorways to Heaven. Doorways to Hades. Doorways to Hearts. Doorways to Religion. I guess there are more than enough doorways to satisfy every soul but it looks like you already got the prettiest ones.

  17. WOW! This is a magnificent doorway! I had forgotten about the Treaty of Versailles. (Canada has never won its independence from England, but we won't talk about that just now. ;-) )

  22. That was very weird about the verification word! It's ironic, because the Web Police try to clean us all up and be super family friendly. Although you could make any number of friendly or unfriendly "stories" out of this one! We have some trouble in the online store trying to describe the habits and physiology of animals. We found that the word "adult" was probably getting us into trouble! So we started having "parent" animals. Crazy. Sometimes the verification words are pretty funny.
