I took you to Gonards cemetary recently and said that I would have to go back because I hadn't found the celebrities tombs. That was a bit of a lie, because I had actually found one:
Louis Blériot, the pioneer aviator who completed the first cross Channel flight in 1909.

ReplyDeleteVery nice family monument. The early history of aviation is quite interesting; something we take for granted now is how dangerous it was for those brave souls.

ReplyDeleteYes bring back the 2CV. Many years I had a ride in one around part of the Le Mans circuit, when some of it was road. Memorable.

ReplyDeleteBlériot also manufactured airplanes. The first woman to fly across la Manche, Harriet Quimby, did so in one of his airplanes in 1912.
