It has been VERY hot this week. On Wednesday, the temperature reached 37° C in Paris and 36° C in Versailles. Though the palace grounds are shady enough, not so the palace gardens. Finding shade there is hard!

La température est montée à 36° mercredi, pas de quoi fouetter un chat me direz-vous. Mais si le parc du château offre une myriade de possibilités d'ombre, ce n'est pas le cas des jardins où il a fallu raser les haies !
Living in Florida, I know about high temps. But look at what all that sunshine has done. Beautiful gardens.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little fountain. When the photo first popped on my screen it reminded me of the fountain at the Rodin Museum in Paris.

Pendant mon sejour en France il a fait assez frais. A present l'ombre et la fraicheur des fontaines est sans doute appreciee. De belles photos montrant le jardin de Versailles.

ReplyDeleteHot or cold, they are beautiful gardens. It has been extremely hot and humid in Boston too, so I know what you are going through. Cooler days are coming.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought the figures kneeling by the fountain were real people cooling off in the heat. Many of the fountains here and especially in Portland have been designed for people to go in and under them.

ReplyDeleteWow, that is HOT for France. Paris Plage must be packed. Once when I was taking an adult education French class with a native teacher it got to 40 - 41 here for a few days. Her mother kept calling her from France, convinced that we were all dying in the streets.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are stunning, and they don't look hot. I've been following the Paris weather with a weather bug on my home page, though, so I know it's pretty miserable there right now. This is why all the Parisians leave and the crazy tourists are left there in the heat! I like to visit off season when it's almost cold! But the gardens are lovely. I see that the statue in the background found some shade! It would be hard to find shade under the pointed trees, though!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to ignore the weather for the moment and comment on how I envy the guy who gets to trim these shrubs into perfect shapes. I'm not sure if I like such total perfection, but I love the power I have when I wield my power hedge trimmer!!!
